Terms of Use
Last updated: August 17, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and MokoRoll ("we", "us") for using the MokoRoll app and mokoroll.com (the "Service"). By creating an account, joining a Film, or capturing a photo, you agree to them. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.
1. What MokoRoll is
MokoRoll lets a host create a shared event album (a "Film"), invite guests, and have everyone contribute photos through in-app film cameras. Photos may stay hidden until a reveal moment the host chooses. Hosts may set limits, such as how many shots each guest can take.
The film-stock looks in the app are our own creations. They are named by us and are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or derived from the products of any film manufacturer.
2. Your account
You must be at least 13 years old, or older if that is the minimum age of digital consent where you live. Keep your sign-in method secure. You're responsible for activity under your account. You can delete your account at any time in Settings, then Delete Account, which permanently removes your data as described in the Privacy Policy.
3. Your photos stay yours
You own the photos you capture. So that the Service can work, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, process (for example, applying the Film's chosen look), and display your photos to the members of the Film you contributed them to. This license ends when the photo, the Film, or your account is deleted. We don't use your photos for advertising, we don't sell them, and we don't use them to train machine-learning models.
4. House rules
Films are shared spaces at real gatherings. You agree not to upload or do anything that is:
- illegal, or infringing someone else's rights (including photographing people who've asked not to be photographed);
- sexually explicit involving minors: zero tolerance, reported to authorities;
- harassing, hateful, threatening, or targeting someone for abuse;
- spam, malware, scraping, or attempts to break or overload the Service.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules, with or without notice. There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users on MokoRoll.
5. Reporting, blocking, and moderation
Every photo can be reported in-app and every guest can be blocked. Blocking someone immediately hides their content and profile from you. Hosts can remove any photo from their Film instantly. We act on reports within 24 hours: removing content, and ejecting or banning repeat offenders.
6. Hosts have responsibilities too
If you host a Film, you're responsible for having a lawful basis to gather your guests' join details (name, email, consents shown at join), for honoring the consent choices they make, and for moderating what appears in your Film.
7. Paying for events
What is sold, and where
Every Film starts free, with a five-guest limit and 36 photos per guest. Two kinds of purchase can raise that:
- Per-event purchases (a larger guest tier, or unlimited photos for that event) are in-app purchases in the iOS app. They are one-time, they apply to the single event you bought them for, and they cannot be bought on the web or moved to another event.
- Host Pro is a subscription bought on the web, which covers unlimited events up to 100 guests each while it is active.
Prices
In the iOS app, the price you see is the price Apple charges for your country's App Store, in your own currency, and it is the one that governs. Prices on the website are in US dollars. We may change prices for future purchases; a change never affects an event you have already paid for.
Upgrades do not credit what you already paid
If you raise a running event to a larger guest tier, you buy the larger tier at its full price, and what you paid for the smaller tier is not credited or refunded. The App Store can only charge a product its own fixed price, so there is no way for us to bill only the difference. The app says this on the upgrade screen before you pay. If picking the right size up front matters to you, pick the larger tier first.
Refunds
Per-event in-app purchases are consumed by the event they apply to and are non-refundable by us, except where consumer law where you live gives you a right to one, in which case that right applies and nothing here limits it. We cannot issue refunds for App Store purchases at all: Apple is the merchant of record. Request one from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. If Apple refunds a purchase, we may remove what it unlocked, though we will not shrink an event below the number of guests who have already joined it.
For Host Pro bought on the web, you may cancel at any time and you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not pro-rate partial periods. If you are in the UK or EU, your statutory cancellation rights apply on top of this.
Host Pro renews until you cancel
Host Pro is billed monthly or yearly to the payment method you gave, and renews automatically at the then-current price until you cancel. Cancel from the billing portal on the web, at any time, effective at the end of the current period. If a renewal payment fails we keep your access for a short grace period and then Pro ends.
Free trials and offers
If we ever offer a trial or a promotional price, its own terms are shown when you take it up, and unless we say otherwise a trial converts into a paid subscription at the end unless you cancel first. On iOS, any such offer is redeemed through the App Store as an offer code against the relevant In-App Purchase — MokoRoll does not unlock paid features from a code entered in the app.
8. The Service is provided "as is"
We work hard to keep MokoRoll fast, beautiful, and available, but we can't promise uninterrupted service, and we provide the Service without warranties of any kind to the extent the law allows. Always keep your own copies of photos that matter to you.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, MokoRoll will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or lost data arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of $50 or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, your mandatory statutory rights are unaffected by anything here.
10. If you got MokoRoll from the App Store
Apple is not a party to these terms, has no responsibility for the Service or its content, and has no obligation to provide support for it. Support is ours: email trymokoroll@gmail.com and we will answer. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a US embargo and are not on any US list of prohibited parties.
11. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You and we agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in California for any dispute that is not resolved informally.
If you are a consumer outside the United States, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in, or of the right to bring a claim in your local courts.
Before filing anything, please email trymokoroll@gmail.com. Most problems are a misunderstanding and we would rather just fix it.
12. Changes and ending service
We may update these terms as the product evolves; material changes will be noted in the app before they take effect, and for changes that affect what you pay we will tell you before your next renewal. If you keep using MokoRoll after a change, the new terms apply. You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time.
